Fabulous Film Friday, July 15, 2011 – Fun at the Garage Sale

Last weekend, Darwin and I went to my parents’ house in Lac La Biche, Alberta, to assist with a mega-yard sale.  The weather was being very uncooperative:  we were rained on, hailed out and eaten by mosquitoes in turn several times in one day.  But in between thunderclaps, I managed to snap a few pics with Einstein, our ‘sharp’ Holga.  Some of the ancient artifacts entered in the garage sale were pretty cool, like this baby carriage.

Along the theme of youngsters, here are my niece and nephew, Hannah and Dominic.  They were very helpful in the garage sale and were kind enough to rearrange items on the tables frequently to make finding things much more challenging and fun for their Auntie.

Dominic had a lemonade stand to refresh thirsty shoppers.  When sales were slow, he would bring lemonade to visitors.  “Would you like a lemonade?” he would inquire.  The shopper, tired after riffling through dusty records and musty books, would be charmed by this friendly offer of comfort.  “Why, sure!”  He or she would reply, taking a lusty gulp.  “That would be fifty cents,” Dominic would inform the trapped customer.  Ah, a CEO in the making.  Here is an old high chair of Dominic and Hannah’s.

The choice of the Holga to photograph the garage sale seemed to work well given the nature of the items in the sale and the ‘old feel’ look to the Holga.  Here is a quintessential garage sale image (dim, dusty and cluttered).  Note yours truly reflected in the bread box!  Happy Sale-ing!

  1. Great Set Sam! I can’t actually make out your reflection in the last image, perhaps you need a bright orange summer jacket?

    • You can actually mostly see my ball cap, but I’m there, in the dark, lurking at the garage sale…. I think I needed my POC when the hail storms hit!

  2. […] week’s Fabulous Film Friday is over at Sam’s blog – check it out to see what she came up with at a garage […]

  3. I really like your fist image here Sam. The baby carriage almost looks like it’s floating.
