Mockumentary Mania

Done well, a mockumentary is a great way to force us to take a closer look at ourselves.  We laugh even as we learn.  Better, the use of humour helps spread the word.  How effective is a message that is all doom and gloom, anyway?  Done well, a mockumentary delivers its message with full force without sapping us of our power to act.  Take this video, ‘The Majestic Plastic Bag’, for example, created for the environmental group in California, Heal the Bay.  The video spoofs off some of the powerful documentaries recently made, such as BBC’s Planet Earth series but with a message that is in line with such productions.  Everyday people becoming empowered to effect change is always the best way to get things get done.
